Siding Calculator

Estimate a siding job fast. Enter the total wall area to cover and this calculator returns the number of siding squares (one square = 100 square feet) plus an approximate nail count. Add a waste factor for cuts around windows, doors, and corners.

Most pros add 10% for cuts, breakage, and overage.

Estimate

No drip sequence. The estimate lands in your inbox and in VertaFlow so I can turn it into a real quote if you want one.

How to use the siding calculator

  1. Add up the square footage of every wall you are siding.
  2. Subtract large openings if you want a tighter number, or leave them in as waste.
  3. Read the siding squares and nail count. Add waste for trim cuts and corners.

Questions

What is a "square" of siding?

A square is 100 square feet of wall coverage. Siding is ordered and priced by the square, so a 1,500 sq ft wall is 15 squares before waste.

How much waste should I add for siding?

Ten percent is typical for straightforward walls; add more for lots of windows, doors, gables, and corners where cuts pile up.
